Annie Mae Christian, affectionately known as “Anne,” loved by so many, transitioned to her eternal home on June 2, 2023. Anne was born on December 8, 1942, in Clyattville Georgia, to Jesse Lee, Sr. and Tiney Kier-Cushion. She gave her life to Christ at an early age at Woods Chapel AME Church. She joined as a member of Salem Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Rev. Dr. Maurice Watson and faithfully called Rev. Dr. Selwyn Q. Bachus her Senior Pastor for over 17 years. She served in several ministries but particularly loved her service as the Children’s Church Facilitator for many years.
She was a high school graduate of Pinevale High in Valdosta, Georgia, where she played on the girls’ basketball team and played in the school band. She then went on to Savannah State College.
Relocating to Omaha, Nebraska, her first marriage was to Charles Ardis, and from that union two sons were born: Edwardo T. Ardis and Duane C. Ardis. Anne met Carl M. Christian, Sr. in 1991 and they were married on May 22, 1993. She retired from US West Communication and after retirement she went on to work for Family Services as a para-assistant at Boyd Elementary School.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents: Jesse Lee, Sr. and Tiney Kier-Cushion; and 9 out of 12 siblings.
She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories, loving husband, Carl M. Christian, Sr.; one loving brother, James E. Cushion (Elena); sister, Eloise Cushion-Thomas; sons, Edwardo Ardis (Nicky) and Duane Ardis (Jennifer); stepdaughter and son, Nicole Christian, Carl Christian Jr.; and a host of grand-children, great grand-children, nieces, nephews, cousins, many, many, dear friends, and a longtime relationship with her special friend Maxine Lyons.
