Birdie Mae Butler’s Obituary
Birdie Mae Butler, age 85, passed away peacefully after a decline in hear health at home on
March 8, 2024, surrounded by family.
Birdie was born on December 15, 1938 to Gibson Clark Sr. and Frances Reynolds Clark in
Leland, Mississippi. She was the youngest of nine children.
In 1959, Birdie and her husband, moved from Memphis, Tennessee to Lincoln, Nebraska, and
then to Omaha, Nebraska.
Birdie retired from her full-time job at the age of 62. She loved gardening, planting and growing flowers. She volunteered at the Clothing Ministry with Sis. Sanders and Sis. Burkhalter.
She visited nursing homes and home-bound church members. She was a faithful member of
the North Omaha Church of Christ.
Birdie is preceded in death by her father, Gibson Clark Sr.; mother, Frances Reynolds Clark;
brothers, Gibson, Charlie, Willie, Richard, Roberts; sisters, Katie, Magnolia, and Mary Lee.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Christine Ealy (Douglas), Doretha Whitner, and
Evelyn Bell — her six grandchildren, John Bell III, Monique Lambrecht (Kurt), Pamela Edwards, J B Bell (Shenae), Brent Gorum, and Kathryn Gorum — and her two greatgrandchildren, Isaiah Edwards and Isaiah Miller; special friends, Sisters LaVerna Foster,
Yvonne Jones, Lois Saunders, Lillian Burkhalter, Rachel Brizendine, and Deborah, Clay; and
a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
