Remembering His Life! Braxton Keith Kirksey was born on March 11, 1972, in Winfield, Kansas, to Jackie Arnold and Carolyn Alfreda Babbs Kirksey. On July 22, 2025, surrounded by his family and friends, Braxton (age 53) gained his wings to eternal life. Under the spiritual guidance of Rev. Dr. James C. Wade, Sr., at Salem Baptist Church, Braxton was baptized and grew in faith. During his time at Salem, he actively participated in the church community, serving as a member of the 100 Voices Children’s Choir, the Junior Usher Board, and the Salem Stepping Saints. Braxton’s educational journey began at Wakonda Elementary and Sherman Elementary, continued through McMillian Junior High, and culminated in his graduation from Burke High School in May 1990. A man of integrity, kindness, and dedication, Braxton touched countless lives with his warm heart and unwavering commitment to excellence. He built lasting relationships with colleagues and students alike, always leading with compassion and purpose. As the head engineer at Field Club Elementary, Braxton took immense pride in his work and the community he served. Even while courageously battling Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, Braxton remained surrounded and uplifted by the steadfast support of his loving family and lifelong friends. His legacy of strength, service, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his father, Jackie Arnold Kirksey; his grandparents, Ellis Hazel and Ethel Mae Babbs, and Jesse and Lela Juanita Kirksey; his aunts and uncle. Ethel and James Smith and Annice Russell. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Carolyn Alfreda Babbs Kirksey; his devoted sister, Ellisa Dionne Kirksey; and his beloved son, Braxton Keith Kirksey, Jr. He is also survived by cousins: Regina Elaine Davis, Victor Wayne Russell (Priscilla), Douglas Ellis Russell (Hope), Michael Jerome Lawson, and Michele Janeece Sullivan (Corey); his aunts, Glenda Beryl Lawson and Dr. Jessie Kirksey; along with a host of special cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
