Preceded in death by parents, Rev. Joseph & Martha Goodwin; brothers: Edward, Robert, James, Paul, John, Isaac, Nathaniel, and David Goodwin; sisters: Naomi Carter, Marjorie White, Florence Wright, and Anita Hicks.

He is survived by his wife, Andrea; children: Daphne Goodwin, Maurice Goodwin, Dr. Melody Newson (David), Daniel M. Goodwin, Jr. (City Council Member LaVonya), and brother Lawrence Timothy Goodwin, Sr.: along with a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of friends, family, and community members.
