Edward Kinnard

Edward E. Kinnard January 30, 1951 – August 10, 2025 Edward E. Kinnard, 74, of Omaha, NE, passed away on August 10, 2025. Born in Franklin, TN to Enoch Kinnard Jr. and Bessie Lee Kinnard, Edward was one of five children. He earned his degree in Architectural Engineering from Tennessee State University and dedicated his career to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Omaha, where he contributed to countless projects that benefited the community and environment. Edward is remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He found joy in honoring African American inventors, gardening, and cherishing time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Agnes Louise Kinnard and Enoch Kinnard III; and son, Otis Hopkins. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ella Kinnard-Hopkins; children, Queen Hopkins-Williamson (Reggie) and Lashawn Hopkins-Spencer; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 22, 2025, at Morning Star Baptist Church, 2019 Burdette St, Omaha, NE. Viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the service beginning at noon.
