Mackey, Jeannette Marie (McCallister)
June 10, 1940 - February 2, 2022
Jeanette Marie (McCallister) Mackey was born to Napoleon Sr. and Colleen McAllister on June 10, 1940. The family migrated north to Omaha, Nebraska for better opportunities. She attended Howard Kennedy Elementary School and Central High School graduating in 1958. She married Ernest L. Mackey on December 25, 1958, to this union one child Terrence L. Mackey was born.
Jeanette worked at Douglas County Hospital for 35 years as a nurse’s aide. After retirement she worked at Jesuit middle school as the culinary manager. Jeanette was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church for over 35 years where she was Sunday school secretary. When her brother Bobby became the pastor of New Rising Star Baptist Church, she transferred her membership there where she remained until her death. Jeanette peacefully transitioned home on February 2, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her father Napoleon Sr., her mother Colleen, her stepfather William D. Lee, brothers Bobby, Morris, Napoleon Jr., Kenneth Beals, sisters Jeanine Styles, and Shirley Robbins. She leaves behind to cherish her memories son Terrence (Tracy) Mackey, along with bonus sons Eris (Shauna) Mackey Tony Mackey, bonus daughters DeShawn Mackey, Marie Bradley.
Grandchildren: LaTia (Artie) Shaw, Yolanda Reynolds and Marcus Tucker. Great grandchildren: LaDaysia Smith, Artie Shaw, Darell Smith and Arianna Shaw. Sisters: Adele Wise, Dorothy McCallister, Sandra (John) Lewis, Kathy J. Trotter, Jean Diane. Special friends, Irene Horne, Carole Woods-Harris, Barbara Sims, Clarissa Love, Evelyn Johnson, and Emma Devers. Nieces: Heather, Kim, Donna, Tonya, Torri, Staci and Shirley. Nephews: Robert, Richard, William, and a host of many family and friends.
