Jesse McDonald transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Friday, January 26, 2024. He was born on December 30, 1927 to Willie Mae Johnson Carter in Dundee, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by both parents, sisters, Ruthie Mae Khan, Elnora Carr, Florence Mae Carr, brothers, Willie James Carr, and Elza Carr, Jr. Jesse accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age in Mississippi. Jesse was educated in the Mississippi School District. Jesse moved from Mississippi to Chicago, Illinois and from there to Omaha, Nebraska where he met the love of his life Bettie Bryant. He told her he was born in Chicago, but before they could get married on November 10, 1951; he confessed the real truth - Mississippi. No children were born to this union however he was always willing to help where needed with his nieces, nephews, and others. Jesse united with the Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church in 1959, under the leadership of the late Reverend D.J. Green. He served in the Eager Beaver Club, Inspirational Choir and Ushers Ministry. He served faithfully in the ministry until his health began to decline. Jesse found employment at Wilson Packing House where he worked 27 years and subsequently he was employed by St, Joseph hospital which he retired from. Jesse's long-time hobbies included bowling, tennis, roller skating, going fishing with his sister, the late Florence Carr, his lawn service and gardening. He leaves to cherish fond memories, wife Betty, of 73 years; two sisters Estella Buckley, Omaha, Nebraska; Helen Carter, Chesapeake, Virginia; one brother Melvin (Eva) Carter; Newport News, Virginia; brother-in-law, Salam Khan, Chicago, Illinois; a host of loving nieces and nephews from the Carr, Carter, Buckley, Bryant, Freneell and Khan clan (including Maureen (Leroy) Venzen, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; and Karan (Earl) Gatlin, Charlotte, North Carolina, dozens of cousins, special friends and family. Neighbor and assistant care giver Lorrie Leazenby and Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church Family.
