Mr. Lucian Clinton Reed, affectionately known as L.C., 90, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away
peacefully on June 27, 2025, at Bergen Mercy Hospital.
L.C. was born on March 10, 1935 in Louisville, Mississippi to Bertha Lampley and Henry
Augusta Reed. He attended Winston County Schools. L.C. was a talented musician who
credited his longevity to clean living. He was the host of a local Nebraska Television Broadcast
which featured him, his beloved guitar, and fellow musicians. He also had several pictures and
articles in the local newspaper.
L.C. was an amazing jokester and storyteller. His favorite hangout, Phil’s Foodway, looked
forward to his many visits, where he kept the customers laughing. He loved to laugh and was
friendly to everyone. He also loved cutting hair, traveling (especially to Mississippi and Iowa)
and he really loved working.
He worked for the Omaha World Herald Newspaper for over seventeen years. He also worked
as a Jitney Driver and for the Omaha Packing House for a number of years.
L.C. was the youngest of six siblings, all of which preceded him in death; Woodrow Lampley,
Richard Culberson, Mary Frances Evans, Leona “Tony” Culberson and Ms. Willie Lee Craig. He
was also preceded in death by his parents, and two of his children; Crystal and Bertha.
Mr. Reed leaves to cherish his memory his beloved of 28 years, Brenda Faye Nelson, and his
children; Judy, Elmira, Kenny, Laura Ann, Sabrina, Richard and Brittney; and a host of
grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Starlight Chateau, 1310 North 29th Street, in
Omaha, Nebraska on July 25, 2025, at 1:00 PM, with a repast to follow.
