Sharon Delores Davis OMAHA – Sharon D. Davis, 76, died from complications related to with breast cancer on March 4, 2022, at UNMC hospital. She was born on November 27, 1945, in South Omaha, the daughter of John Clayton Rose and Juanita (Jackson) Rose. Sharon graduated from South High School, Class of 1964. Upon graduation, she attended St. Joseph’s Hospital School of X-Ray Technology where she received her degree. She would later earn her insurance license and cofound the Davis Companies with her husband Dr. Dick C. E. Davis. Davis Companies has provided lines of insurance and risk management services for 40 years. It also includes a bonding and technical services consulting affiliate that helps win construction contracts. Sharon and Dick's partnership began more than 52 years ago when they married on December 1, 1968. In 2012, the Small Business Administration awarded the family business with the National Minority Small Business Champion award. The family continues to engage in several community service efforts focused on education and economic development in underserved and disadvantaged communities in Nebraska. The Davis-Chambers $5 million endowment is a multi-year, multi-million-dollar scholarship program for Nebraska’s University, Community, and State Colleges. The Scholarship has provided $3 million in opportunities for more than 430 of the best and brightest that live in Nebraska’s diverse and disadvantaged communities. Mrs. Davis was inducted into the South High School Hall of Fame in 2000, presented the African American Leadership Award in 2006 by the Durham Museum, and the Governor’s NEBRASKALAND Foundation Trailblazer Award in 2010. She served as a trustee at the University of Nebraska Foundation and a member of its Administrative Committee and was an Honorary Chair for the National Council of Negro Women. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her four sisters, Marlene Moore, Donna Temple, and Olene Marion. Surviving in addition to her husband, Dr. Dick C.E. Davis, are her son, Dick C.E. Davis II (Atlanta), her daughter Shaynel Williams and husband, Anthony Williams (Omaha), and three grandchildren; Erin L, Ethan S., and Elise M. Davis (Atlanta); Sisters, Janice Miles (Omaha), Claudia Wright (Bellevue), and Melanie Rose (LaVista) and a host of nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 12 at Good News Church 7415 Hickory St., Omaha, NE. Entombment will be at Graceland Park Cemetery, Omaha for all those who can attend.
